Dating back to the 1700s, this centuries-old treatment is relaxing yet invigorating—a full-body massage that incorporates pure fractionated coconut oil or therapeutic massage cream made with certified organic botanicals. All-natural essential oils are also available upon request. This popular spa massage involves soft and long, lifting and kneading strokes such as effleurage and petrissage as well as rhythmic, tapping movements like friction and tapotement. Combined, they help stimulate the flow of blood and lymph, lower a person's blood pressure, relieve tense, sore muscles and promote a more peaceful and calm state of mind. I highly suggest this treatment for those who are new to massage or who simply want to unwind and de-stress.

Shiatsu
Japanese for “finger pressure”, Shiatsu works with the movement of energy (Qi) throughout a person’s body and the 12 meridians (pathways) that flow up (Yin) and down (Yang). While directing this flow, I use finger pressure at various acupuncture points, which helps to stimulate and balance. My Shiatsu session is generally a full-body, interactive session, with clients fully clothed and on a mat. Slow, rhythmic movements are applied using palms, fingers, thumbs, knees and feet. Multiple stretches are also included and vary based on the client's needs and capabilities. As I work, I asses areas with excess energy (Jitsu) and areas with a deficiency (Kyo). The goal is to empty the full and fill the empty. All of this is accomplished with the client seated, lying face-down and face-up and on both sides. I also pay close attention to the head where I work on the neck and shoulders and points along the scalp and face. I conclude each session with a final balancing which helps ground, calm and restore awareness.

Sports
You don't have to be a professional athlete to take part in a sports massage. I've found that this modality is also ideal for the casual exerciser or anyone whose muscles are stressed and irritated due to repetitive motion, overuse or mis-use. Techniques include gentle Swedish strokes as well as jostling, joint rotation, compression and broad strokes. Passive and active pin-and-stretch movements and range-of-motion PNF exercises are incorporated in successive sequences where necessary. Other issues addressed include trigger points and referral pain, strains and sprains, restricted shoulder movement, tight IT bands and shin splints.

Deep Tissue
This form of massage takes into account not only the superficial muscles but also the deeper ones that might need attention. The purpose is to work through these layers to lengthen tight, constricted muscles, strengthen those that have become weak and restore overall balance to the body. Palms of hands, soft fists, knuckles, forearm and elbow are used depending on the area and sensitivity. Issues and muscles that I address include the neck and shoulders, tennis elbow and golfer's elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, low back pain, IT band, low back, sciatica, light penetration of the psoas and QL muscles, the quads, hamstrings and calf muscles, the ankles and plantar fasciaitis.

Chair
This style of massage is ideal for seniors or for those who have trouble getting onto a table or down on the floor. It is also conducive for corporate office work as well as special events. Seated massage can be highly effective despite its shorter duration, generally broken down into 20-minute increments. Emphasis here is mainly the neck, shoulders, arms and back. Palms of hands, soft fists and thumbs are used to soften and relax knotted, tense areas and compressed muscle tissue. I also incorporate some Shiatsu techniques here (acupressure points and movement along the arm and back meridians). Stretching and range of motion (neck and shoulder joints) are also emphasized. I finish with calming points on the scalp.
